To be saved,
you must trust Christ and only Christ for salvation,
with no trust at all on anything else,
so that he regards his righteousness yours,
so that you have eternal life.
Please note that this is not the teaching that is
so popular today of salvation by surrender
(that saves no one, since that is not the gospel).
Trust in Christ alone is the gospel of grace
that Christ gave to Paul by revelation,
and that Paul preached to the nations;
and that Christ showed to Luther
1500 years later to begin the Protestant movement.
Since other things should be done,
such as repentance, surrender, baptism, church,
sacrament, giving, deeds, endurance,
how can all trust be on Christ alone?
The gospel of grace shows how:
The required righteousness for salvation is Christ,
not us at all.
In fact, those who trust in their own "righteousness"
for salvation, are not trusting in Christ alone,
and so need to transfer their trust to Christ to be saved.
The Bible tells us that the spirit of deception began
in the first century of the church.
You must not go by feelings or miracles or popularity,
but rather by the gospel of grace (not by what is
being called that, but rather by what really is that).
Today it is popular not only for people to trust in
their own supposed "righteousness", but also
in their own supposed "victory".
But Christ is the only righteousness and victory
there is for salvation.
The moment we trust in Christ alone for salvation,
he regards his own righteousness and victory
as though being ours, so that we have eternal life.
Christ is received only by the gospel,
and no one bears fruit except by Christ.
(John 15-16, Romans 3-5, Galatians 1-2, 1 John 4-5)
