I would have posted this before Christmas, but I was down with a cold.

I have no financial or other connection with the group I'm going to
mention.

Some of the most interesting and, in some cases, moving renditions
of Christmas music I have heard are by Mannheim Steamroller. Their
Christmas arrangements are similar to the music on their "Fresh Aire"
series. The most affecting version of "Stille Nacht" (Silent Night)
I've
ever heard is Mannheim Steamroller's wordless arrangement. "Cantique
de Noel" (O Holy Night) is not far behind. (I also like their slow,
pensive
version of "Jingle Bells"; but that is not, strictly, a *Christmas*
song,
merely a *winter* song.)

My daughter checked that out of the library and it was so so. My
favorite is 'Mass for Christmas Morning' by Michael Praetorius and
others performed by the Gabrieli Consort and conducted by Paul Mc
Creesh.
