Entire Righteousness
(too old to reply)

The world understands
its own "righteousness"
without any problem at all.
It is altogether natural for people
to work for what they get
and to see themselves
as measuring up
no matter who they may be.
But in the gospel a righteousness
is revealed that is very different.
It comes by faith in Christ,
that is, being fully persuaded
that Christ is God the Son,
and that he was born on earth,
lived a perfect life for us,
went to the cross in our place,
paid for all our sins,
and died for us,
so that his righteousness
would be regarded, reckoned,
considered, ascribed, imputed
to be our righteousness
so that we have eternal life.
Christ rose from the dead
and is the Righteousness
and Eternal Life
of all who place all their trust in him
rather than any in themselves
to be their entire
righteousness for salvation.

Which is Christian theory. Jesus, to my knowledge, was never recorded
as saying he was going to die to 'pay for our sins.'

[You might want to consider Mat 26:26 ff

While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing
it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this
is my body. 27 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it
to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is my blood
of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of
sins.
