In 2007, gospel articles were sent by email to prominent denominations,
ministries, and Christian media. The few responses were sufficient to show
the situation: The first responses were in agreement that salvation is by
faith alone and not by faith plus anything else, such as repentance,
submission, personal commitment, resolve, intent, effort, church, baptism,
sacrament. But when subsequent articles specifically pointed out to them
where on their websites they had told people that they needed both to trust
in Christ and to repent, submit, etc., to receive Christ and to be saved,
then the ready agreement changed to no response, or by one, a charge with
"quibbling" over words, and by a doctrinal authority for a large Pentecostal
denomination, from an encouraging agreement to a terse "thank you".
