This actually reached me after the election was over. I have omitted
one sentence and the entire attachment:

<quote>
We received this email and had to forward it
before the election. The christian who wrote this article makes some
very valid points and we agree with him. How can we say we are
believers in God who love Him, and then turn around and vote for
Obama, whose beliefs are totally against our christians beliefs and
the bible, which we uphold to be the absolute truth? So we are
asking all of you to pray about your decision before you vote.

</quote>

How can a person with such an attitude be accepted by me as a fellow
Christian? I do not allow myself the privilege of calling someone
else a non-Christian. But I am tempted mightily.

I believe that it is good news for Christianity in particular and
humanity in general that Obama won the election and demonstrated that
even here in the United States this kind of (and I resist the
temptation to write "pseudo") Christianity is a minority position.

Isn't God supposed to be about Love? And, of course, I prayed, as I
always do before a major decision.

Misplaced perhaps, and whether it is good news or not sort of remains
to be seen. I hope it will, but I confess I am afraid, he and those
in his camp tend not to be very tolerant of opposing positions. They
intimate opponents are racist, uncharitable, and cruel, stifling
debate in advance. They use any means to discredit those they
dissagree with, whether it is simple ridicule (as with Sarah Palin) or
worse (as with Joe the plumber.)

I do agree that one should not presume to judge the state of another's
faith, that is considerably above our pay grade :-)
