Re: Sources of New Testament
Can anyone steer me to some verifiable information as to the
number of individuals and the time frame during which the books
of the New Testament were first written?
Some of these books mention the temple at Jerusalem, indicating
that the text was written before the fall of this temple. Are
there other such means for establishing the time frame of each
writing?
Gordon
Gordon,

Yes, there is a good reference work that goes into the writing of each
book of the WHOLE Bible, but also other things, such as what
manuscripts were available for translators to use in their Bible
translations etc. It is the book: "All Scripture Is Inspired of God
and Beneficial". Just go to the web page below for information on
obtaining it.

Sincerely, James

Here's a useful WWW reference:

http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/christian-history.html

What really grabs you ( and prompts further research ) is how EARLY
complete(?) NT texts were available. Considering how "flakey" was early
Church structure and how tenuous, and how bitter are atheist critiques of
NT authenticity ... the earliest recorded Christian testimony provides a
very different picture.

Both Clement and Polycarp casually quote the NT -- either could have ( and
possibly DID ) say ... 'Peter said THIS' ... 'John said THIS' ...

[This site gives a variety of references for all of the NT books and
other early writings: http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/

Be aware however that the range of dates on the summary page does not
does not allow for the possibility that the Gospels were all written
before 70. While I'm by no means certain that this is true, it's at
least possible to make a credible case.
