I want to know what you all think about the subject of anorexia and
other eating disorders. I suffer from Ana but I want to know how other
people view it

Wouldn't this be more appropriate in another ng unless the poster
specifically wants a theological response?

God has designed all his creatures to have a certain amount of food that
makes each creature healthy. When we do not get what is proper for the body
it will eventually resort to eating ( muscles, etc,) itself and you get very
sick or die. Just look at the animals that have a hard winter and cannot
find food what happens to them. Look at poor countries and those who cannot
aford to fed themselves. It doesn't take much to figure out you are really
damaging your body in many ways.

It is a "Mental Disorder" pure and simple.
What make it so much worse is the fact that it is self-inflicted.
It is both low self esteem and vanity gone awry at the very same time.

A perfect body equals a perfect life, tell that one to Princess Dianna.

Lots of evils are. In fact, the Stoics believe that all true evils are
self-inflicted. Apparently, Chrysostom believed it too, since he wrote a sermon
titled, "that no one can harm a good man".

But this is _often_ the case. And the reason it is so often the case is
described so very well in St. Augustine's pithy but untranslateable saying I
adopted as my sigfile. Vanity is always the _bad_ kind of self-love, the kind of
self-love that must be hated and avoided, but the only possible _good_ kind of
'self-esteem' must be founded on the _good_ self-love, the kind he describes as
stealing yourself away from yourself, for yourself, giving yourself over to God,
or, more precisely:

I know the translation is old-fashioned, but I think the JPS brought out the
relevance to this topic of the Proverb:

The merciful man doeth good to his own soul;
but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
(Pro 11:17 JPS)

People who starve themselves _are _ "troubling their own flesh".
