Those Imputed Righteous

Those imputed (regarded) righteous by God
are only those who have accepted the real gospel.
Their righteousness is
the imputed righteousness of Christ,
imputed by Christ as theirs so that they have eternal life.
No one can actually be as righteous as God
except God himself, and that means Christ
since Christ is God, the one God with his Father.
But that righteousness of God is the righteousness
required for salvation, so Christ imputes
that to those who trust him to be their Righteous Substitute,
and that according to the gospel that he showed
to John (such as in John 6), to Paul (such as in Romans 4),
and to Luther (Preface to Luther Latin Works):

The moment Christ gives us faith to stop trusting our
"righteousness" and start trusting him to be our Righteous
Substitute so he regards his righteousness and victory ours,
we have eternal life.

I'd rather talk about the spirit of Christ or, if you will, the
presence of Christ
within one's life.

Imputed, who cares and who really knows. The reality is being in
Christ
and Christ in you. That's transformation, at the beginning, and daily
until
the end.

Forget the imputed thing. For St. Paul the central reality of
Christianity is being "in Christ." Or Christ in you.
Yes, the Christian is one whose inner being (soul)
is made alive by Christ's spirit. A new creation. Thus,
law, rules of living, prayer, though important, are secondary.
Law, dietary or otherwise, endless theological discussion that
in the final analysis show the limits of human knowledge especially
of thing spiritual are, before the great life-giving, sin-defeating
gift
of God's spirit, are more like red herrings and unprofitable
diversions of our spiritual energy.

Forget the imputed thing.
Shallow Christians with shallow faiths. You make light of the beauty
and depth of the vicarious nature of Christ's life and death? Forget
it?
It is the basis for "Grace to you and peace from God our Father." It
is a fundamental part of the Gospel, "the righteousness of God
revealed
from faith to faith."

Silly, naive, small minded people we are who trivialize what was
done for us and what great wealth we have because of it. How can
we worship HIm as He is if we are of the mind to "forget the imputed
thing"?
