Yesterday I had my heart filled with joy and gladness as well as with
intense sorrow when I attended the Gay Pride Festival in Boston
Massachusetts.
<snip..soc.religion.christian wont' accept a lot of quoted material>
What saddened me though was an encounter with a young man to whom I
offered a brochure.
<snip>
The young man told me I no longer
believe in a God, My church threw me out because I was gay, They claim I
am doomed to go to hell,
<snip>
I have know I
was drawn to men from the time I was seven. It is my nature!.

Hello,

Since you are a male, and although you may have sexual feelings for
other males, that in itself doesn't make it right. Just like some
people may have sexual feelings for small children, but that doesn't
make it right either. We have a guide to go by, and that guide is what
was given to us by Almighty God; the Holy Bible. The Catholic Bible
words it this way at 2 Ti 3:16,

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for
refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness." (NAB)

And God's word the Bible clearly does not approve of the homosexual
lifestyle. (if you wish the verses, just let me know)

As for being 'made' that way, there is not 100% proof among scientists
that people are 'born' that way, anymore than there is 100% proof that
murderers are born with a 'kill' gene or something. People are always
capable of choosing not to do those things contrary to what God has
commanded. That principle is stated, for example, at De 30:19,

"I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set
before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life,
then, that you and your descendants may live," (NAB)

It is just like in my case. I have heard some claim of an 'alcohol
gene', i.e, a predisposition to be an alcoholic. In my youth, I
apparently lived up to that desire. But after later finding out that
God did not approve of alcoholics, I made a choice not to follow those
inward feelings. Yes, it wasn't easy, and is always a war going on
against going back to it, but as long as I am capable of making a
choice, I choose to obey God. (but I don't encourage all people away
from alcohol. The Bible approves of its consumption in moderation)

So hopefully you will at least consider some of these things. Remember,
only those who do God's will, are going to live forever. 1 Jo 2:17,

"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of
God lives forever." (NIV)

(that verse also negates any 'hellfire' place of the churches, since
those people would also be 'living forever' in such an alleged place,
just not under ideal conditions)

Sincerely, James

B - How judgemental of them...I am sorry they were so insulting to you.

B - as is mine to connect to the opposite sex and no one could convince me
of dropping that either! :)

on a child? that is like comparing a dog to a whale....it makes little
sense. You say the Guide is the Holy Bible. I say it is God (in my
opinion). Why are you anymore right than I am?

stop breathing if my body wanted me to stop breathing. I have a choice
there...and you know? I choose to live....so may he.

together.

B - and it is not up to you or me to say what that "will" is...but God.
Perhaps it is in the Bible...perhaps not...but it is not up to us.

"The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of
God lives forever." (NIV)
B - I agree with that....because we eventually all do the will of
God....because energy cannot die...but only change.
