Motorcycle Accident

I just crashed my 06 Honda Shadow on September 30, 2006.

God saved my life. I stomped too hard on the back brake, causing my
back wheel to skid out and the bike slid into the oncoming lane. My
bike slid into another car, bounced off, and left a flaming trail of
gas as it slid off the road.

I flew off the bike, missed the first car, and rolled in between the
next oncoming car. I should have been killed. As I was flying through
the air, it passed through my head that I was about to be hit by a car
and die.

But God saved me. The only injuries I have are a scrape on my right
forearm, and a little tiny scrape on my right knee. This is a blatant
miracle.

The bike is totally smashed. I just bought it about a month ago. The
other car's airbags went off. The two drivers are okay, but their car
is messed up and I don't have motorcycle insurance. We will see how
badly this hurts me financially. I hope God spares me on this one.

I think I will never ride a motorcycle anymore. I am switching to
bicycling and maybe uni-cycling.

However, as I said, this is a blatant miracle. My friends, who were
riding behind me, said the crash looked like a video from "worlds worst
motorcycle crashes." This was the real deal, death should have
happened. I have cheated death, my angels must have literally held me
up and put me right down between the two cars. The second car, I have
no idea how on earth it stopped in time. As I flew through the air, I
expected the second car to smash into my pulverized body.

I am telling you, I literally should not be alive right now.

I have been liberated from a material possession (the motorcycle) that
I may have liked too much. The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away. I
feel my own mortality very powerfully right now. This might be a
seriously life changing thing.

God bless. And remember, life is short. Very, very short.

Wow! What a miracle. I'm glad that God sends his angels to watch over
us. I also been saved from the jaws of death a few times.
God must have a special plan for keeping you around :)

All street riders should get dirt experience first... rear tire skids
should not cause crashes, even on pavement.

I am telling you, I literally should not be alive right now.
I have been liberated from a material possession (the motorcycle) that
I may have liked too much. The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away. I
feel my own mortality very powerfully right now. This might be a
seriously life changing thing.

I had a terrible bike crash when hit a deer when I was 17, in which I
was severly injured (no head injuries due to wearing a helmet,
thankfully). In 4 years, I was back on a bike. 17 years later, I am
still riding. I thought sometimes like you do, but then that way of
thinking could be applied to many things (if you were in a car
accident, would you think the same way?). If your conscience convicts
you to not ride anymore, then so be it. (And I didn't blame God for it,
Jeffrey Sargent.)

I walked around on crutches and then a cane for a while, and didn't
have a mode of transportation all through college. That was bad, sure,
but being so short on money, I may have not been able to maintain even
the bike. Instead, I formed a symbiotic relationship with a person who
had a car, but not a license (I drove, he rode). He also became my #1
study partner, and helped me get through school at a higher level.
Sure, the Lord taketh away, but he also provides opportunities, and
opens doors. A lot of people don't see them.

I'm so glad you are safe Bims. You were not meant to be gone yet...this is
what I believe.
