are you of the opinion that these "conservative" Christians tainted your
experience of the divine presence?

did they attempt to put God in a box and kill your experience of his
presence?

did they turn your focus away from his divine love and acceptance and
toward senseless externals?

Did they put you back into a "yoke of bondage"?

Isn't that so much of what modern evangelicalism is doing these days?

Yes but only for a short while. Thank God I have learnt long ago to think
outside of the box and that any so-called "Christian" is no closer
to God than you are. You don't have to swallow the hype to be Christian
or to believe.
I personally felt "weirded out" in an evangelical church that I went to as
a child because it felt very phoney to me ...very superficial and robotic.
This was my experience and I am not saying that this is the way the church
"IS"....only my experience of that one time.

This is my belief.

Blessings
