Dilemma: To Believe or Not to Believe

According to the Romans 13:1-2 and 1 Peter 2:13 in the Bible, one
should absolutely be obedient to the authority, or the government, or
the king.

Now those people in Muslim or communist countries face a dilemma:

If they convert to Christianity and believe in Jesus Christ, they
betray their respective authority and thus betray the Christian
teaching, which means they will go to Hell.

On the other hand, if they follow the Bible teaching and obey their
respective authority by disbelieving the Christianity and Jesus Christ,
they will also go to Hell.

So what should they do?

The Christian missioneries who attempt to convert people in those
countries thus face a moral challenge: Preaching Christianity to those
people causes them to go to Hell no matter what they do.

[The "absolutely" pushes things beyond what the authors actually said.
Romans speaks of the government's authority in administering justice.
Paul says pay them what is due them. This should be qualified by
Jesus' words and Paul's own practice: pay them what is due them, and
God what is due to God. --clh]

No. No sin can send you to hell, except the sin of unbelief. We are
called to disobey authorities, when what they command is contrary to
Christ.

True. Non-belief is the only sin that sends us to hell.

So what should they do?
Put their trust in the finished work of God. That is, what God did on
the cross and then what He did three days afterward. That should be
sufficient.

Wrong. All sins can be forgiven except the sin of unbelief. And even
unbelief can become belief, (and thus can be forgiven) after people
spend a certain length of time in hell. For God will have mercy upon
all men.

clh makes a good point.
How are we to react to institutional evil? Moses confronted the Pharaoh.
Paul shamed the authorities in Philippi. Peter and John flatly refused to
obey the injunction of the Sanhedrin to be quiet and not preach about Jesus.
Karl Barth has famously noted that the civil authority in Romans 13, when
carrying out their order-mandate must be obeyed, but that same authority
(Rome) in Revelation 13 is 'the beast from the abyss' which will be judged
by the very Christians it is persecuting.

Rom 13: 1-2
"Let every person be subordinate to the higher authorities, for there
is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been
established by God.
Therefore, whoever resists authority opposes what God has appointed,
and those who oppose it will bring judgment upon themselves."

Another reason the bible cannot be taken literally. Hitler was the
highest authority in Germany. Can we really believe God appointed him?
Did those who opposed him bring God's judgement upon themselves? I
think not!

Hi there all

If you look at the marriage. A wife must submit to her husband. I
think we all know this. EPH 5:22 AMP. The same applies to the church.
verse 24. The church is all of us that are Christians. We must submit
to God. If your husband tells you to do something that is against
God's law, let say adultry. That is against God's law. She must
follow God's law. God law is above all law and authority. Yes you
must obey, but if a Isam tells you to do something against God's law
than you must you must obey God.

Hope it helps

Blessings
